Simon Brew

Croydon Council Conservative Group Secretary

Simon Brew has lived in Purley & Kenley for over 40 years and raised his three children here, and he now has eight grand-children. He is a motor-cycling enthusiast, and also keeps fit by cycling round Kenley Airfield, especially early in the morning; he plays Croquet at the Purley Bury Croquet club and duplicate Bridge at the Purley Sports Club. He is a strong supporter of the Purley & Woodcote Residents' Association, Purley Rotary, the  Purley Business Improvement District (BID) and he is Chair of the IT committee at the SouthEast Cancer Help Centre. He volunteers as an IT buddy at the Carer Support Centre in George Street, Croydon and with the Purley Cross Information Centre based in Purley Baptist Church. His early career was as a technical consultant for IBM for nearly 30 years, and he still enjoys tinkering with PCs.

Croydon Remembrance wreath-laying

Croydon's main service of remembrance was held at Croydon Minster today, and at 12:30pm there was also a short wreath-laying service at the Town Hall Cenotaph. 

Remembrance day service on Webb Estate

We were pleased to be able to attend this year's remembrance service at Upper Woodcote Village which was very moving and extremely well attended by about 100 local residents.. it's becoming more and more popular year by year.

We were thrilled to learn that Purley in Bloom was awarded a GOLD Award and an It’s Your Neighbourhood, Level 4 ‘Thriving’ Awards for the Friends of Rotary Field and Friends of Purley Cross recently at the London in Bloom Awards Ceremony 2024 at RHS Garden Wisley. 

Veteran car rally this SUNDAY 3/11

Don't miss this year's historic veteran car rally from London to Brighton on Sunday 3 November; it  runs right through the centre of Purley any time from about 0800 - 1030.

Resurfacing work in Woodcote Valley Road 12-14/8/2024

As happens every year, lots of resurfacing work is scheduled for the school holiday period for the simple reason that traffic is much lighter, so although it causes some inconvenience, it causes much less than if it were scheduled at any other time.  We've just been notified that there will be
