BE THE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS HMD 2021
It was good to hear the thought-provoking contributions made to Croydon’s 2021 Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony today from Croydon schools and residents and to hear from Mr Sok Din, who survived the Khmer Rouge’s Killing Fields of Cambodia in the 1970s.
It’s so important to remember these and the other appalling episodes of genocide in Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur, and to learn the lessons. There is no place for genocide, anti-semitism, racism, xenophobia and discrimination in today’s world.
We should all value free, respectful and democratic society and cherish all the great kindnesses which take place in our neighbourhood and beyond and which are needed more than ever through these difficult times..
