Cllr. Andy Stranack continued his tour of voluntary sector groups last week by holding zoom meetings with Jon Hills from West Wickham and Shirley Baptist Church, Andy was joined in this meeting by Shirley Councillor and activist Cllr. Sue Bennett. Later in the week Andy met with Suzy Stoyel the Manager at the Shirley Neighbourhood Care Association.
Andy commented:-
"It was great to spend time with Jon and hear about the work that the Church is doing to serve the local community including working with the homeless through the floating shelter, CAP Debt Advice, helping run a food bank and clubs for children and young people . They also have ambitious plans for the future to build a new community hub and open up a coffee shop that will be a meeting point for the whole community.
It was also good to meet with Suzy and learn about all the work that Shirley Neighbourhood Care are doing to provide services for the elderly and vulnerable during COVID19. The shopping services and food hampers they are delivering over the Christmas period will be a lifeline to so many people living in the Shirley area."
