The parking suspension in St Augustine’s Avenue from 2-8 December are causing total mayhem in the area with very little work underway.
We presume it is to facilitate gas works, but the amount of parking suspension is disproportionate to the work taking place.
Parking is already at capacity in this area and this stretch of parking is vital for local residents and local traders who are struggling to survive.
During our Community Ward Surgery this morning, parking wardens targeted this road at a time when no works were underway and issued countless tickets to residents, shoppers, traders and those attending Saturday School at the church.
The signage is not clear and much of it is only on traffic cones, many of which are not in the right position. Others were ticketed outside of what appeared to be the suspension area.
These are draconian measures in a time of great difficulty for residents and traders. Parking in this area is already over capacity.
As a matter of urgency, We have requested that all tickets issued to date are rescinded as the markings are not clear, a reduction in the area of the restrictions and that they are signed more appropriately.
