Local residents will have seen notices posted around Addington Park informing passers-by that an application had been lodged for a premises licence for the park. A number of you have got in touch with Councillor Helen Pollard and I to express concern, and some people have registered an objection with the Council.
The application was to allow the sale of alcohol during the hours of 10 am to 10 pm Monday to Saturday and till 10 pm on Sunday. This would be in conjunction with dance performances, plays, films, and both live and recorded music. Closing date for objections was cited as 30th September.
It transpires that the application was by the Council itself, but due to the fact that the application was not posted properly on the Council web site, the application has been withdrawn. The withdrawn application can now be seen on the Council website here. We do expect it to be re-submitted at some point in the near future.
Councillor Helen Pollard has discussed her concerns with the Council officer in charge of this application and it is hoped that alterations will be made to the original submission before it is re-submitted. In particular it needs to be clear that residents will get a say in how the licence is used, before every event. You can view current applications here.
