We were pleased to be able to attend this year's remembrance service at Upper Woodcote Village which was very moving and extremely well attended by about 100 local residents.. it's becoming more and more popular year by year.
Rev Fiona Weaver from St Marks and St Swithuns led a short service before the two minute silence. We then heard a mournful recording of the last post and reveille, many local uniformed organisations laid their wreaths, and we finished with the National Anthem and some prayers. Some of the most moving words were memorably spoken by a local resident Dennis Newland who served in WW2 and turns 100 on 12/11/2024.
Our grateful thanks for the success of the event are also due to Ghazala and her husband who own the Lord Roberts, and kindly provided tea and hot chocolate to keep us warm during the ceremony.
