It was great to pay a visit to Chestnut Gardens Care Home on Foxley Lane this week. It has very recently opened and offers a warm and friendly environment, and both long-term care and short-term respite/intermediate care.
I enjoyed meeting Louise, their Homes Advisor and Gayane, the General Manager over coffee and delicious homemade cake. Louise also kindly gave me a tour of the facilities.
The home is beautifully done and offers a range of facilities, including a café, hair salon, a collection of dining rooms and a beautiful garden. There’s also a home cinema and spa bathroom. They are also well equipped to support those living with dementia, and have a dedicated floor called Memory Lane. I was impressed!
The team at Chestnut Gardens offer various activities. Louise is also really keen to involve the local community as much as possible and I attach a copy of May’s scheduled events (below), which range from a networking soirée for local professionals to a monthly gentleman’s lunch club. Every Wednesday afternoon, Louise runs a community café (2-4pm) offering hobbies and entertainment.
There is a lot of loneliness in our community and for our retired residents, there are a lack of new activities/things to do so I’m delighted that Chestnut Gardens is here and being proactive in our community – and encouraging inclusivity.
