Here in Purley, we hold a councillor surgery on the first Saturday morning of every month and, by kind permission of Tesco management, it's been held at a table in the main entrance.
Amid all the public and social media controversy about the Council tax rise, it was reassuring that there were so few queries on this topic. Nearly everyone understands why the Council is in such dire financial straits, which has been illuminated so well by the publication of independent reports such as the two RIPIs by the auditor, the three S114 notices, and most recently the Penn report.
It's always good to talk direct to local residents and pick up specific casework items, and ALL councillors are of course ready to meet individual residents in private if that is necessary.
The next surgery will be on Saturday 1st April 1000-1200, probably also at Tesco.
