It's great to see that work has started again to trim the trees on the Waddon Estate!
Croydon Council began trimming the trees at the start of the summer but paused a few weeks afterwards. After I pushed the Council to finish the rest of the estate I'm glad to report that work has once again resumed. It looks like Violet Lane and Goodwin Road will be done by the end of this week, with Waddon Way, Denning Avenue and Hillside left to do.
It's very important the council finishes cutting the trees so we avoid a repeat of what happened last winter! The previous Labour administration let the trees overgrow and left local residents unable to navigate the streets. Overgrown branches fell with the leaves and when the weather turned very cold the debris froze leaving vulnerable residents and those with accessibility needs unable to leave their homes without assistance. This was added to the problem of overgrown trees blocked out street lighting meaning walking the streets of the Waddon Estate in an evening became even more challenging.
So I'm pleased that the council has listened and resumed the work to improve the local area for local Waddon residents!
