Today I visited Kuala Gardens in Norbury with Cllr Yvette Hopley and Kofi Frimpong following a plea for help from a resident regarding their living conditions in their sheltered housing.
Mould, water damage from the roof, and on the ceiling from the water tank ,front door hinge broken leaving them exposed , although this has now been fixed, grimy communal carpets, flies and debris in the overhead lights, ripped carpet on landing by lift, noisy lift announcements 24hours a day because fire doors have to be kept open. Fire extinguishers installed because of Fire officers request then removed.
The small gardens have not been kept for a very long time. In the front there is a tree at least 8ft high growing into the brick work whilst below the flower bed is just a mess of weeds. The benches are broken as is the retaining wooden posts with many scattered under the tree.
In the back the small grass bed hasn't been cut in a year given the length.
The local Labour Councillors have taken no interest in these residents conditions or even visited them.
After being elected next May a Conservative Council will look after our older residents . We look after them.
