Croydon's Conservative candidates saw a weekend of electoral success following the local elections that took place on 6th May.
The London Assembly election saw Conservative candidate Neil Garratt elected whilst increasing the vote share of his predecessor, Steve O'Connell.
Of the five Council by-elections taking place, two were wards held and retained by the Conservatives with new councillors Jade Appleton (Park Hill & Whitgift) and Ola Kolade (Kenley) being voted in by their residents.
The three remaining wards were historically 'safe Labour' seats, but our incredible candidates managed to secure huge swings from Labour to the Conservatives:
- Lara Fish, New Addington North - 16% swing Labour to Conservative
- Sonia Marinello, South Norwood - 14% swing Labour to Conservative
- Michelle Kazi, Woodside - 11% swing Labour to Conservative
Croydon Conservatives are grateful for the support shown to us in these elections, and will redouble our efforts to fight for a better Croydon in the upcoming Croydon Council elections in 2022.
In May 2022 all 70 Croydon Councillors will be up for election, with local residents being given the chance to finally remove Croydon’s failing Labour Council from office.
After years of poor decisions, ignoring many warnings from residents and Conservative Councillors, Labour bankrupted Croydon. As a result of their incompetence, the most vulnerable in our town will face service cuts and huge tax increases. Businesses, already struggling due to the pandemic, are being hindered rather than helped by Labour's failing policies.
Next years election will be a fight for the future of our town. The choice is a simple one: more of the same chaos and confusion from a failing Labour Council; or a vote for change and competence with the Croydon Conservatives.
