The Government has launched a second Safer Streets Fund worth £20M for 2021. Croydon Council will be putting forward a bid with a focus on safety in public places for women and girls.
The Council has put together the below questionnaire for women and girls living and working in Croydon to complete. This questionnaire will support the bid by showing the Council why women feel unsafe in Croydon and what they think would make them feel safer. So far the Administration has only heard fashionable words of support for keeping women safe and Cabinet members have shut down discussion about what actually makes women feel unsafe e.g. walking home late at night, not having nearby public transport etc.
It would be great if women and girls could complete the survey listing all the ways that they feel unsafe in public spaces. The more detail and examples the better - and if you have ideas about how our public spaces could be improved, please do put those ideas in the survey too.
