I've recently receive the below update from Thames Water, after chasing them to find the root cause of the sewage leak:
Surveying began on Sunday 25 July, but progress has been slow due to the further rainfall we have experienced and the build up of silt that this recent rainfall has resulted in. We have therefore had to extend our investigations and expect to complete these by the end of Sunday 1 August.
The team have found an area of interest, and are meeting with Croydon Council at the earliest opportunity, which may be this afternoon, to discuss our next steps at this location. Work may move quickly as a result of this and I will update you again on Monday when I know the outcome.
On Monday Thames Water will be getting some feedback from the operational teams. Once we have that information your local elected representatives will arrange a time to meet to hear the findings of the investigations.
It is vital that we get to the bottom of this and fix it before it happens again.
