UPDATE 7 February 2025
After several weeks of darkness, it was a relief to see the streetlights ALL working along the stretch from Little Roke Road to Hayes Lane.

UPDATE 4 February 2025
It’s great to see the electricians on-site today. When I spoke with them, they explained that it was a particularly complex issue. Some of the underground cables had deteriorated, making it difficult to determine how long it would take to restore the lights. However, they reassured me that, whether it takes a day or a week, they are committed to getting them working again

UPDATE 31 January 2025
I'm very disappointed that the lights still haven't been fixed and raised this in another meeting with TfL this afternoon. I'm expecting the temporary lights to now be installed very soon now.

UPDATE 22 January 2025
UKPN has responded, confirming that they are working within the service level agreement with TfL. However, recognising the level of concern this issue is causing within the local community, they have committed to expediting the restoration of the lighting as much as possible.
As an interim measure, five of the lanterns will be replaced with solar lanterns. While these won’t provide the same level of illumination as the previous lights, they will remain in place until a permanent solution is implemented.

UPDATE 16 January 2025
I had a call with TfL this afternoon to discuss Kenley related issues such as this. TfL reiterated that they understood the safety concerns, and were pressing UKPN to undertake the repairs. I will now write to UKPN to try and get this sorted.

I am sure that many of you are also concerned about the long stretch of the Godstone Road without streetlights between Hayes Lane and Little Roke Road. These have been out since at least 16 December, and as there are no houses here, it is very dark indeed and feels very treacherous walking along the road as a pedestrian.
As this is on the Transport for London (TfL) network, TfL are responsible for their maintenance and repair. It’s possible to report issues such as this directly to TfL through their ‘Streetcare service’, and you can view several reports on this issue here.
Over the Christmas period as they hadn’t been resolved through Streetcare I reported them directly to TfL via TfL’s councillor liaison officer and have received a report back today. TfL’s Assets team have investigated the situation and it has been identified as a UK Power Networks (UKPN) issue which cannot be resolved by TfL or its contractor. The matter has been escalated to UKPN and TfL is waiting for them to resolve the issue.
It has now been escalated as a priority on safety grounds and I will provide an update here once I have received it from TfL.
