I was pleased to be able to attend the SLAM Governors' Away Day in Denmark Hill The agenda covered the important governance changes that are coming into play, Patient Safety and a number of Peer Support examples. So important that people who have have their own lived experience of mental health are able to use their knowledge to support others. By sharing their lived experience they inspire hope that recovery is possible. Embedding Peer Workers within individual Multi Disciplinary Teams where a clinical need has been identified can provide and demonstrate value to service users, carers and SLaM staff. The systematic introduction of Peer Workers has revolutionised how services are delivered to improve the quality of personalised care and has improved service user experience.
