Longheath Gardens is a pleasant Local Authority estate in Shirley, there was plenty of green space, that is until Brick by Brick built unwanted and unloved one bed flats, dozens of them. Residents dispair, not only are these flats mainly unoccupied but no thought has been given to what the community need.
The estate has been home to many residents for decades, many of these elderly residents live in properties that are too big for them, they would happily move into something smaller suitable for their needs. One bed flats on the 4th floor with no lift are certainly not suitable.
Residents who have lived in the community do not want to move elsewhere, small one bed terraced ground floor properties would then free up dozens of family accommodation.
Is it any wonder that this Labour administration have managed to bankrupt and diminish this once thriving and vibrant Borough, joined up thinking does not seem to feature high when making important decisions.
