WORK PARTY 10am – 1pm
After last year’s November bonfire, to everyone’s amazement, there wasn’t a twig left to burn, but last month we did very well in producing a substantial pile of timber ready for this month’s bonfire. There is still plenty of fallen wood throughout the Beeches and depending on how many brave the elements on the 11th we will send out teams to bring this timber in. The photo shows one of the frogs or possibly a toad that was uncovered whilst clearing the stacked timber in November.
It has been decided to revert to our original start time of 10am as most of the oldies are bushed after 3 hours work. As usual please arrive when you can and stay as long as you can, but don’t forget your elevenses.
Safety is always important, but especially so at our bonfires. Nobody should step inside the safety line when throwing wood onto the fire. Please stop adding wood to the fire, to allow it to stay at a safe level when asked. Wear clothes and hat that doesn’t matter if a hot ember lands on them and thick work gloves are a must when using saws. When rakes, saws, loppers etc are not being used please ensure they are safely stored.
We will meet at the bonfire site, which for anybody new arriving is off to the left of the main path coming in from the Beech Avenue entrance, passing a bench and then a circular waste bin.
