Earlier this month I gave an update on flooding hotspots in Kenley.
Over the last two days, the council has cleaned and investigated the gullies along Station Road and Purcell Close as part of the flood prevention strategy. Representatives from the housing association which has assets in Purcell Close, also attended to inspect the works. They also review the situation with the balancing pond which acts as a drainage mechanism from the railway and Kenley Lane. The pond is designed to hold and slowly disperse the storm water run-off from Kenley Lane and the railway into the ground.
It was good to see the close cooperation between the council as the lead flood authority and the housing association. I look forward to the reports from today and resulting action plan to alleviate this persistent flooding.
