Communities across Croydon are being given the opportunity to get-together with their friends and neighbours to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.
The Coronation Big Lunch Event is being held over the weekend of Saturday 6 May to Monday 8 May 2023 and to make the events as easy and accessible as possible, there will be no council charge for Traffic Management Orders (TMO) to close roads for those wishing to hold street parties.
Whether your Big Lunch takes place in the street, a park or open space, the council has put together essential information to help organisers planning for the historic event, which can be found here on the council website.
Completed application forms must be submitted by Friday 7 April but organisers are encouraged to apply as early as possible as there will be a limited number of Traffic Management Orders granted across the borough. Apply now.
Funding for Coronation Big Lunch Events can be applied for through the National Lottery Award for All fund, which supports community events that bring people together. Applications need to be made 12 weeks in advance of the Coronation weekend.
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon, said: “We look forward to seeing the borough come together with celebrations to mark the coronation of His Majesty The King, as we did with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last year.
“The Coronation offers the opportunity for our residents to celebrate and feel part of this national event and we are glad to support our local communities.”
We hope to see Big Lunch events happening in Sanderstead!
