Kenley’s Ward Panel met on 8th February at Old Lodge Lane Community Hub to discuss and agree its community safety priorities.
The police provided an update on work towards the priorities agreed at the last Ward Panel meeting in October, including:
- Working to update the existing domestic posters that are in prominent public places in Kenley
- The police had not yet spoken to parcel delivery companies about the way parcels are left in prominent places, but undertook to do so. The police emphasised the need for residents to update their delivery preferences and asked for support in doing so.
- Speed checks continued to be taken on roads in Kenley, including along the Godstone Road. An officer was also due to be trained on speed camera operation and the police committed to working with residents on priority areas for speed tests to take place.
Discussions took place around on the priorities that the Ward panel should set for the next quarter. This included concerns around dogs who weren’t being controlled and the police undertook to provide some guidance on what people should do if they had fears about any particular dog. Concerns were also raised with school children being robbed of their phones, particularly with weapons. The police explained that steps that were being taken more widely outside of the Community Safety Team, including a particular focus in Purley.
The Panel discussed which community safety priorities should be set for the next quarter and agreed on:
- Violence against the person, with a particular focus on domestic abuse and out of control dogs
- Burglary offences
- Vehicles offences.
The provisional date for the next Ward Panel is 15th July. Kenley residents are welcome to attend.
