Pleased see the proposal for an application to build on the Barrowsfield site. Do respond to the consultation and let Denhill know what you think.
Dear Sanderstead Residents’ Association member,
We have been approached by Denhill Properties Ltd who own the site at Barrowsfield. You will recall that the residents of Barrowsfield were successful in upholding the covenant so that the large ugly block of flats could not be built and the developer of that scheme has since sold the site to Denhill.
In brief Denhill’s proposals are:
- To retain and refurbish the houses at numbers 2 and 3 Barrowsfield.
- To replace the two incongruous houses at 4 and 5 Barrowsfield with a terrace of 6 traditional style family houses.
- Create a car park for the new houses in part of the garden of number 3 Barrowsfield screened from the roadway with a fence and soft landscaping.
Denhill are keen to know what Sanderstead residents think about the proposals. If you follow the links below You will see that Denhill have looked at using render for the lower parts of the new houses but have also looked at facing bricks as an option as they are aware that Croydon Planning Department tends to dissuade the use of render.
Denhill prefer the rendered solution as they, and the other Barrowsfield residents, feel it is a more appropriate design solution and believe that the council's reservations are mainly based on its use on larger blocks of flats where it is logistically far more difficult to maintain. They would be interested to find out which of the options SRA members would prefer.
Denhill are planning to hold a small exhibition at All Saints’ Church hall in the near future.
