This morning I attended the very moving Armistice Day Service outside Croydon Townhall, together with other Council colleagues, ex and current armed forces personnel, and members of the community, who wanted to show their respect for those who gave up their life or suffered for our freedom.
We will forever be in their debt, and we should not forget the huge sacrifices given, so we can have the rights and freedoms we treasure so dearly today!
The service today was an opportunity to reflect, and it was very moving to see so many local school children lay crosses in memory of those who have fallen or sacrificed for us all.
It is a reminder that no matter how old you are, it is important to respect and reflect what others have given, so we can live in a free and welcoming country as we are very lucky to enjoy!
