Luke has lived in Croydon since 2000 and prior to becoming elected to represent Coulsdon Town ward in 2014 (then Coulsdon West ward) was a former Croydon Councilor for South Norwood ward.
In his time as a councillor he has served as Vice-Chairman of the Planning Committee and as Deputy Cabinet Member for Regeneration, among other responsibilities. He is currently a Trustee of Croydon Council Pension Fund, a member of the Scrutiny Streets, Environment and Homes Sub-Committee, a reserve on the Traffic Management Advisory Committee and represents Croydon on Woodmansterne Charities.
Luke has worked as a journalist for the past 20 years.
Mario is a lifelong Croydon resident. He was state educated locally before being the first in his family to go on to university. He has worked for Heineken as their Public Affairs Manager and in Parliament as a political adviser for Gavin Barwell, MP for Croydon Central (2010-17). He has experience working in PR and Marketing at the University of Surrey and the 1994 Group of research-intensive universities. He now works in Government communications.
Mario sits on the Coulsdon Safer Neighbourhood team, the management committee of the Coulsdon Community Centre and on two of Coulsdon's incredible Residents' Associations. He is a big believer in community engagement and is a proud supporter of the Coulsdon Yulefest Christmas festival. It's his ambition to get as many people involved in the local community as possible.
In May 2016 Mario was made Conservative Chief Whip on the Council.

Having served as a Coulsdon West Councillor for four years (2010-2014) I have a clear picture of the role of a local Councillor. Key is the ability to listen to and respond without promising that every wish can be met. As an ambassador for Coulsdon I would seek to promote the area to ensure the town centre remains a vibrant place to shop and work.
The ever-growing Cane Hill development provides challenges for local public services. Elected representatives need to ensure the services expand in line with the growing population. Any developments should preserve the green belt that should be cherished for ours and future generations.
As a Conservative Councillor, I would seek to ensure we get value for money from our local taxes. To do that, we need a Conservative administration in the Town Hall from May this year. Coulsdon has for too long been neglected by a Labour Croydon Council.
