The Planning Inspectorate in Bristol have now announced the hearing date for the appeal by Lidl against Croydon Council's decision, at Planning Committee, to refuse permission for their store. It will be held on 29 April, probably all day, venue Fairfield Halls. Both Cllr Hale and I have written to the Inspector to confirm our objections and to request a slot t o speak at the Hearing. GLA Member Steve O'Connell and local MPs Sam Gyimah and Richard Ottaway have also written to confirm their support for the council's plannning committee's grounds for refusal of the application, as has Surrey District councillor, David Hodge. How can you get involved in the appeal? Anyone can write to the Bristol Inspectorate, voicing their support for the original refusal decision (or opposition to it, if they are in favour of the scheme) and outlining the reasons why they believe the committee decision should be upheld. You can write to Alison Kendall, at the Planning Inspectorate, 3/05a Kite Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6PN quoting appeal reference APP/L5240/A/14/2212949, Croydon Planning reference 13/00957/P and the site address The Good Companions, Limpsfield Road, CR2 9AW. Alternatively you can use the online system on: www.pcs.planningportal.gov.uk/pcsportal/CaseSearch.asp Either way the representations have to be in by 14th March 2014. In view of the grounds given by the Croydon Council’s Planning Committee in refusing the application, we suggest that you focus on the highways issues when contacting The Planning Inspectorate.
