Public toilet a stain on Coulsdon: residents caught short and short changed

Coulsdon Town’s public toilet, outside the new Aldi Supermarket, was greeted with relief by local residents when it was introduced by the last Conservative administration. But in the past year the maintenance of this vital convenience has left a stain on the Labour administration’s attempts at cleanliness.
Since Labour took control of Croydon Council in May 2014, dozens of local residents have joined the Conservative Coulsdon West Councillors in consistently reporting the state of the putrid potty.
Cllr Bains commented: “This really is a mess of a situation. We have received dozens of complaints over many months about this out-of-service loo and despite pushing hard for the Council to address this we appear to be coming up against a persistent blockage.”
Cllr Clancy said: “Many of our residents have been caught short and left waiting weeks after reporting for the toilet to be cleaned. They are understandably left feeling that Labour are simply pulling their chains.”
Cllr Creatura agreed saying: “I first contacted the Council in April this year, and there’s been little movement since. The quality of the Croydon Council contractors charged with cleaning the public toilet seem to be very hit-and-miss. That’s why we’re calling on Councillor Newman to get a grip and focus on flushing out the facts of this much-needed facility.”
Local Councillors Jeet Bains, Luke Clancy and Mario Creatura, have written to Cllr Newman and asked him to work with Council officers to find out why his contracted services appear to be offering Coulsdon residents a bum deal.
