A Success Story
10/05/2019 15:19:00.......Posted by Sue Bennett

'From little acorns grow mighty oaks'and from one man's vision a great success story, from a kick about in Ashburton Park to winners of the Tandridge Leage Cup Final in one season and winners of the Metropolitan Police Football Cup.  I was delighted alongside my Colleague Cllr Stranyck to attend the Cup Final, the winning goal in the last 5 minutes and a well deserved victory..  A victory also for hard work, team work and dedication from committed volunteers.  A group of boys who might otherwise have turned in the wrong direction now belong to a cohesive, disciplined 'family' of likeminded football mad friends. Shirley North Councillors have been delighted to support and encourage and fund them from the start of this journey.

I was priviledge to be invited to the 100th Birthday Party of Joyce Town organised by Shirley Neighbourhood Care and to spend time in the company of so many inspiring Shirley residents together with the selfless volunteers.

Easter at Stroud Green Community Centre
10/05/2019 13:16:00.......Posted by Sue Bennett

Two hundred children took part in an Easter Egg Hunt organised by the Community Centre at Stroud Green and fifty children a day during the holidays took part in the 'Fit and Feed' initiative, three hours of sport and then a hearty meal.  All this would not be possible without the tireless dedication of Thomas Scammell and his volunteers.  Shirlety North Councillors were delighted to support the initiative through our Community Fund, I have never seen so many Easter Eggs and hamburgers at one time.
