Early In 2020, a planning application was lodged (20/01625/FUL) to demolish the bungalow at 14 Oakwood Avenue and replace it by a block of no less that 20 flats. The local residents launched a very strong campaign against it and over 500 people have lodged objections.
Inevitably, the planning department decided to recommend approval, so the application was scheduled to be heard at the planning committee meeting on 4th February, and I and a local resident (with the help of many others) spent a long time considering all the arguments in the officers' report and trying to build a case against them.
To our amazement, this item was withdrawn from the agenda with just 30 minutes notice, apparently at the request of the planning officers involved. It's extremely unusual for a case to be pulled at such VERY short notice, so I've made an urgent enquiry to find out who made this decision, when they made it, and above all WHY? I await further news.
