Croydon council is bankrupt. Since 2014, the local Labour Party has consistently failed to balance the books and make necessary savings. As a result, a range of cuts will be unleashed on local services.
Shirley library is under threat. The council currently runs 13 libraries across Croydon. It wants to reduce that number to eight.
As local councillors, we know how important the library is to residents. It is vital that local people respond to the consultation to make clear the important role that the library plays in community life.
Residents have until 7th March to respond. Here is a link to the consultation:

Important points to make might include:
- The role the library plays in building community
- How the library supports young people without access to books and learning technology at home
- How regularly you and your family use it
