Very Sadly the Council Graffiti Team has been made redundant. The direct consequence of this is that graffiti such as that in Mayfield Road will not be cleaned up by their operators. This is the response received by a resident hoping to get the mess cleared up:
"Thank you for reporting the graffiti to the council. Unfortunately my team are being made redundant on the 18th December due to the financial problems facing the council and we will only be removing Racist / obscene graffiti until that date. I will close the case down on the system."
Very soon Croydon will look like a slum.
