The Friends Group has made a great start on tidying up Hamsey Green pond. So far they have cleared the water entry channel of mud and debris and trimmed back a number of overhanging plants. They have cut back the plants along the walled area and removed a number of weeds. Also the pond edge/grass bank has been tidied up.
Some of the large reeds nearest to the edge of the pond were cleared and some of the invasive parrot weed. Debris and weeds around the whole pond and importantly the seating area have also been cleared.
This is great progress and well done to all the volunteers, particularly to Tim Ashton who has led on this particular project.
I am pleased to report that due to the improvements are number of residents are now enjoying this green space.
