The Sanderstead Councillors have contributed £1,000 to Sanderstead Rotary to help organise the “Virtual Xmas” this year. It is certainly going to be a very different experience for residents. We are hoping that the event will be live streamed and uploaded to various social media sites. Sadly, due to Government guidelines we will not be able to have a public event where residents gather.
I have been promised that our Xmas tree (now dead) on the Gruffy will be replaced and lit by Skanska along with the trees on the roundabout and they will officially turn on the lights here on Sanderstead parade and at Hamsey Green for a fee. So at least people will be able to enjoy the festive street scene. I am also working with Skanska to see if we can have some lights at Elmfield Way. Elmfield Way came in to Sanderstead under the recent boundary review. The lamps may need socket attachments for festive lights to be installed. This needs an electrical survey and due to COVID may take time. Fingers crossed it will happen in time for Xmas.
All Saints Church choir will be part of the video singing Xmas carols and this will certainly bring some Xmas cheer to all. After a very difficult year this will be something that we can all look forward to.
