For several months, the derelict property at the Purley end of Lower Road in Kenley has been a hotspot for persistent fly-tipping, causing significant obstructions on the pavement. The situation was further aggravated by overgrown vegetation and poorly secured fencing that encroached on most of the pavement on both Lower Road and the Godstone Road, making it difficult for pedestrians to pass safely.
In response to these ongoing issues, I used the council's environmental reporting app, 'LoveCleanStreets,' to highlight the problems. However, it became clear that a more comprehensive solution was needed to secure the site properly.
Over the past few months, the council has taken action to address these concerns. New Harris fencing has been installed to deter further fly-tipping, and weekend of 17th August, contractors completed vital work by cutting back the overgrown vegetation and securing the fencing. This has significantly improved the area, providing a clear and safe path for pedestrians.
I’m pleased to see these improvements, which have made a substantial difference to this part of Lower Road.
