More road resurfacing for Purley & Woodcote
Since my election as councillor, I’ve been actively lobbying for more roads in Purley & Woodcote to be resurfaced.
Under the previous administration, Purley & Woodcote’s roads were largely neglected.
Having had several meetings with the Highways Team and a walkabout with senior officers, I am delighted that the following roads will be resurfaced in this financial year, and I have been given the following provisional dates by officers for some of these:
- Manor Way: 30th July
- Smitham Downs Road: 7th August
- Peaks Hill Rise: 9th August
- Woodcote Valley Road: 12th August
- Foxley Lane: 23rd September
All of these are a full resurfacing with the exception of Foxley Lane, which is a partial resurface from Peaks Hill Rise to Woodcote Valley Road. I have also been given a commitment to Highfield Road, but this will be done in conjunction with works on Plough Lane and I have yet to receive a date for this. It's also fantastic to see nearby areas just outside my ward included like Old Lodge Lane (Kenley side) and Pampisford Road (Purley Oaks and Riddlesdown part).
Residents of these areas will be notified two weeks before works. I know there are some other roads that deserve a road resurface and if you would like me to raise this, please drop me a line at [email protected].
I am grateful to Council officers, particularly the Council’s Director for Sustainable Communities, Karen Agbabiaka, Head of Highways, Jayne Rusbatch and Rowland Gordon, Highways Operations Manager for listening to me.
