At Lunch time on the 11th November I joined with representatives from Talawa and residents from across Croydon in the Central Library for the launch of 'Our Croydon' a multi venue exibition across Croydon that explores they ways in which different communities tell their stories from generation to generation. For more information please see www.culturecroydon.com/event/our-croydon.
That evening it was a real pleasure to present an award to Amongst Wolves at the Step Forward Christian and Gospel Music Awards that was hosted at the Fairfield Halls. The National Award ceremony came to Croydon to celebrate the global reach of the Christian and Gospel Music scene.
On Monday 13th November it was a joy to join with the amazing team at Croydon Drop In as they held their AGM at the David Lean Cinema. As part of the AGM they showed part of a new film/learning resource produced by Chardine Makaveli-Singh showcasing the film ‘A Cronx Tale’ you can watch a small clip here. The film sends a powerful message to young people and the whole community about the dangers of getting involved in crime.
Finally, on the 21st November it was good to again visit the amazing facilities at Stanley Arts to watch Zoo Co’s new production called Night Shift. This powerful production uses an innovative combination of spoken English, BSL, visual vernacular and creative captioning to tell a tale of ordinary people caught up in extraordinary events.
