Since my election, I have been pushing for more bins across Purley & Woodcote, particularly in the district centre where there are flytipping hotspots.
I am pleased that Council officers have approved a request for a new bin by the old Sainsbury's/Leisure Centre forecourt near the community seating area. This will be trialled for a period of four weeks to ensure the facility is used for its intended use and not abused.
I very much hope that this bin remains where it is following the four-week trial.
Unfortunately, my request for a bin opposite Bon Bon newsagents on the High Street was rejected. As some of you may recall, there was a bin at this site but this was removed. Officers have told me that they will continue to undertake checks here at different times to ascertain whether there is future need. I will keep pushing on this.
