Residents have complained about speeding on Woodplace Lane. The speed visor on the Lane isn't operational after an accident so the Highways Road Safety Team has been contacted for a repair or maybe replacement.
There will always be those motorists that persist in traveling at speed and where this takes place the most effective course of action is of an enforcement nature. The Council has no enforcement powers over moving vehicle offences of this type and must rely on the Metropolitan Police to provide this service. To this end, the Police have been advised of our concerns. They've been asked to carry out additional enforcement.
I have also contacted the Safer Neighbourhood Team for some monitoring under the Road Watch’ project. This project is provided by the Police Community Support Officers who monitor traffic speeds using laser guns and electronic display signs. The information gathered by the teams is then passed on to the Metropolitan Police to target regular offenders for speed enforcement. The day-to-day management of ‘Road Watch’ is carried out by the Metropolitan Police.
