The year long celebration that is marking Croydon out as the London Borough of Culture has continued over the last couple of weeks. Cllr. Andy Stranack (Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture) has attended an ‘Access Weekender’ workshop hosted by Zoo Co Theatre Company at the LSBU Croydon Campus. The workshop explored how we can make Arts and Culture more accessible to people with a variety of different needs.
Andy has also spent time at Thornton Heath Library where the National Gallery loaned Constable’s The Cornfield to be displayed alongside an amazing photographic exhibition entitled ‘Rural Croydon’ by local artist Ameena Rojee.
Alongside Mayor Jason Perry, Andy attended Ashburton Community Hall where the GLL Sports Foundation celebrated the sporting success of young sports stars across the Borough.
Finally, the Croydon Food Festival and the South Norwood Festival have taken place bringing thousands of residents together to celebrate the very best of Croydon’s diverse communities.
Andy commented:-
“The Borough of Culture is celebrating the very best of Croydon, from sporting success, artistic talent to street festivals. To find out more about the events programme for the whole year please visit CultureCroydon.com “
