I was contacted by a local resident very frustrated about noisy road works on Plough Lane at approximately 1am. I wasn't aware so enquired with Council officers.
I understand the works are emergency gas works owing to a gas leak and as such there wasn't sufficient time to notify local residents and the three ward councillors.
We have now been more fully updated.
SGN have installed two way temporary traffic lights outside number 8. The signals will be manually controlled between 7.30am and 9.30am and 14:30 and 18:30 to assist with traffic flows. The work is expected to be completed by 20th June. At present, there is nobody working on site as they are waiting for a specialist piece of equipment to prove the length of electrical ducts, which is where there is a high gas reading, to find the source of the leak.
The works are expected to last until Monday 19th June, but the hope further out of hours work is no longer necessary.
