Over the last few weeks, I've been supporting the Purley Panel and the Purley BID following complaints regarding illegal parking, the lack of secured bollards and paving issues. Time was of the essence here as the Purley Panel which has received funding wanted to start their works asap. Their works, including painting, planting and street seating.
I am pleased that Council officers listened to us and recognised the need to get things sorted before the Purley Panel's contractors begun work on the site. They put up signs warning illegally parked vehicles that they would be removed, removed vehicles that remained and their contractors secured the bollards and tackled the paving.
Works were completed on time and the Purley Panel's contractors have now started work.
It was nice to swing by and see a car-free area and met young Purley resident Elise and her dad playing football.
The Purley Panel is hosting a high street fete on Saturday 24th June between 12pm and 3pm, with live entertainment, food stalls, market stalls and a few games. This is a great opportunity to unveil the area and let people know that it is there for the use of local residents and businesses. I hope as many of you can attend as possible and it's great to see a group working hard to make our area more attractive and inviting.
