Took a tour around Ten Degrees (“The Black Towers”) today - here are some of the views from the top floors. It was great to speak to Greystar representatives about what they have learned about good external design, now that this project is finished.
Tall buildings need to look beautiful both up close and from a long distance. They need to engage with the street, but also have gorgeous detailing, including well-designed ‘crowns’ at the top. We would not approve an ugly building in Kensington. Croydon should be the same.
It’s also crucial to imagine what the building will look like on a typical grey drizzly day, ten years after it’s built. Will it age well, or will it stain and crumble away? Will the materials look like they do on the sunny CGI?
