A common theme in my casework is the damage committed by construction companies when they are developing sites. Verges are driven over, the grass torn up or worn away, kerb stones crushed and trees damaged. Once that has happened, there seems to be no impetus to rectify the damage and the situation continues for months or even years.
The most recent new development is at 2 Shaw Crescent. Within days of the project starting, the curbs stones were crushed and the verge damaged beyond repair. It was hard to tell that there had ever been a verge there at all. Within weeks, the pavement had been destroyed too and was a health and safety hazard with pedestrians no longer able to walk on this side of the road.
I have been able to get this resolved and this week a new dropped kerb and pavement have been installed, and I sincerely hope that this has been at the developer's expense.
Attached are before and after photos of the most recent work.
