Following the Council question which was asked last month, I agreed to meet with the community in the Oval Road area to discuss the ongoing issues associated with the failed refuse bin bag scheme.
The previous labour administration trialed a scheme to remove the physical bins from the street, with the aim of reducing street clutter, but as a result waste was in standard bags. This obviously created issues with foxes and rodent issues increased because of exposed bags full of food waste etc.
Following feedback from officers and residents, I have asked officers to revert back to the standard collection service, bins are being installed back, and I expect that the issues to be a lot lower and resolved by the end of the month.
