Cllr. Andy Stranack (Cabinet Member for Culture and Communities) joined with friends from Stanley Arts last week to celebrate William Stanley's 194th Birthday.
The event also marked the launch of the Stanley’s stories exhibition in the gallery where a number of displays from local organisations such as South Norwood Primary School, Palace for Life and Acacia Care Centre are being exhibited.
On the night local artist Neil Hedger also revealed his new work which is a statue of Stanley that was inspired by workshops with over 350 school children from Croydon and the South East.
Andy Commented
“This event focuses on the excellent partnership work that Stanley Arts are undertaking and through the National Lottery Heritage Fund demonstrates the important role that culture plays in bringing inward investment into Croydon.”
