The news of the death of Emma Pattison and her daughter Lettie has been truly shocking. Emma was until last summer the Headteacher at Croydon High School and her lovely daughter Lettie was a pupil at the Junior School. So many local residents were lucky enough to have known them.
Emma was an inspiring, caring tour de force of a woman who positively touched the lives of those around her including family, friends, colleagues, pupils and parents. Emma managed to know the name of every pupil at Croydon High and knew each of the parents. It was her welcome at open days that drew parents to the school and made pupils’ learning experience inspiring with a focus on excellence, kindness and openness.
Those who worked with Emma talk of her as a valued colleague, inspirational mentor and good friend who was much loved, supportive and passionate. During lockdown, when she ensured that pupils still had a full timetable whilst at home, she held weekly wellbeing meetings for her staff. She took care of everyone.
Emma’s generosity impacted on families across Croydon. She was a great supporter of the Rowdown Foundation that helps gifted and talented pupils at schools in New Addington and she served as a Governor at Woodcote High School in Coulsdon.
Wherever Emma went, she made a positive impression. The world truly is a lesser place without her and delightful Lettie in it. May they rest in peace.
