Notice from the Friends of Purley Beeches
Happy 2023, albeit a little late and a reminder of our first work party of the year next Saturday. As before we start at 9am for the early birds and finish in time for lunch at 1pm and as usual it is not expected that everyone stays for the whole time, but however long you stay it will be much appreciated.
As a year passes, we all become a year older and for younger ones it’s of no great importance, but for the hard core of volunteers each passing year takes a toll, so please younger members do come along and give a hand, I can guarantee that it is a fun and enjoyable time.
Observant members will have noticed that the trees that got blown over in last Februarys gales have been cut down leaving a lot of logs and scrub. Current practice is to leave the logs to rot down and slowly return all their stored up riches back to the soil, but the scrub looks very untidy and needs to be collected and moved a short distance ready for next months bonfire. As usual we should go scavenging and bring back unsightly scrub alongside paths, to the bonfire site.
We have a good selection of loppers and bow saws in our Green Room, but if you have your own favourite tool then please bring it along. There follows the usual request that everybody wears suitable clothing, stout footwear and gardening gloves are essential, particularly when using a saw. Early Birds meet at the Green Room to convey tools etc. to the bonfire site, for those arriving later the bonfire site will be base camp.
Finally, a reminder to those who have yet to pay their subs. Annual Family Subscription for “FoPB” living at one address is Only £5.
However, should you wish to pay a larger annual fee it would be most welcome,
