It was good to attend the Sanderstead Safer Neighbourhood Team Police Meeting at All Saints Church Hall on 1 December. Those present included Sergeant David Dickinson PC David Waters, PC Reshma Mulji and PCSO Sam Brooks. It was pleasing to see the trend for lower burglary numbers but there has been a significant increase in motor vehicle crime. Land rovers and high-end keyless cars have been a target, but we are also seeing other vehicles stolen. Some are recovered because of tracking systems.
Advice is to keep car keys away from doors and windows and where possible to use a Faraday pouch to keep the keys. these can block the signal transmitting codes thus preventing thieves from being able to detect and amplify the signal. A steering lock/wheel clamp is another method to deter thieves.
