On Sunday (13th), I attended our Remembrance Service in Purley which took place on Woodcote Village Green with my family and as representative of the Purley and Woodcote Councillors. The service saw a large turnout from local residents and many children too which was incredibly moving.
Residents were also joined by our Safer Neighbourhood Team and many laid wreaths as a mark of respect. This included wreaths from the Purley Rotary Club, Purley Scouts Group, Purley Brownies, Coulsdon Guides, Cumnor House Boys and Girls School, the 58th Surrey Battalion Home Guard and many more.
I am proud to have joined such a moving tribute for all those men and women up and down the country who have risked their lives to protect, serve and sacrifice.
I would also like to pay tribute to the Royal British Legion and all poppy collectors that do an exceptional amount of work in helping support the Remembrance Services that take place as well as the work throughout the year to support veterans and our communities.
