I was delighted to attend last night’s well attended Sanderstead Horticultural Society AGM.
Famed in Sanderstead for their three Shows each (non-Covid) year – Spring, Summer and Autumn – this wonderful local organisation has been going for 81 years!
The Society was first formed during the 'Dig for Victory' campaign during World War 11, a campaign which encouraged the nation to grow their own food and help the war effort. The original aims of promoting the cultivation of gardens and allotments, holding exhibitions and competitions as well as informative meetings on horticultural matters, still hold true
There are excellent benefits of being a member which include: organised trips to interesting gardens; reduced admission price to RHS WIsley; free admission to their Shows and talks – and a 10% discount on a range of items at Knights Garden Centres.
If you would like to join – its just £6 a year at the moment - do visit their webpage.
