I've just received a detailed briefing from SGN which I include below:

We have done an awful lot of work on this site and we have had attendance every day and on the occasions that we can, we have had two teams on site.
We have been dealing with a leak on the MP [Medium pressure] main that runs down Godstone Road. We also switched sides twice on Godstone Road twice prior to the MP works, fixing multiple leaks on the LP [Low Pressure] main.
We have had multiple leaks on Foxley Hill Road itself all the way up the hill. We still suspect further leaks on this hill as we still have readings in the ducts. We have currently relaid a supply to an Old Peoples Care Home, repaired other supplies and sealed multiple joints on the 8” main that runs up the footpath.
At the start of these works we were working 24/7 on the job as the readings warranted that kind of attention. We are still working till approximately 9/10pm each evening trying to get these works resolved, but we can’t cut off and relay supplies late at night.
When we worked on the MP main over the past week, we wouldn’t work late into the night because, for safety reasons, we need to have additional resources available should something go wrong; this kind of pressure in the main can be very dangerous and we need to have safety processes in place.
The bottom part of Foxley Hill and Godstone Road are now put in for reinstatement which will require concrete to cure.
We have further works to do on Foxley Hill Road (half way up the hill), we have the footpath closed, we are using large vehicles (like our core and vac lorry), and there's a fairly high pedestrian density, so we feel it is safer to keep the road closed until we complete our works.
We have targeted ourselves to be completed by the 19th (1 week today), and would like to thank you for your patience.
Where this job has come in at the junction by the Shell garage, we think we have solved that historical leak once and for all!!

So there is light at the end of the tunnel.. I hope.
Several people have also raised concerns about the total gridlock around Olden Lane and Dale Road, so I aim to meet the resilience team on-site to try and work out a better way of managing traffic at this critical junction.
