This evening on Thursday 8 September the Royal Family released a statement confirming that Her Majesty The Queen, Elizabeth II has passed away at the age of ninety-six.
This is truly sad news, and we send our deepest condolences to her family, and everyone who is affected by her passing.
As the longest serving British Monarch, The Queen has been the figurehead for the United Kingdom and Commonwealth for seven decades, since being crowned aged twenty-five, on 2 June 1953.
From official overseas tours and charity engagements, to delivering words of strength and leadership at historic moments of collective celebration and tragedy - we will all remember Her Majesty The Queen in our own personal way.
Most recently, Her Majesty’s devotion to public service was marked across the globe as part of Platinum Jubilee events, an unprecedented tribute that many of us took part in – with many events held right here in Croydon, bringing communities, families and friends together.
In the meantime, we take a moment to remember Her Majesty The Queen and send our thoughts to her loved ones during this difficult time.
